Salamanca Foundation pattern

We believe that all Jews should be able to live with dignity.

The Salamanca Foundation is assisting in rebuilding Jewish communities in Muslim countries, while also helping disenfranchised segments of the population in Israel.

PROJECTS ABROAD

BUILDING COMMUNITIES

North Africa and the Middle East has been home to Jewish communities for centuries. While close to One million Jews fled from their homes in Muslim lands after the creation of the State of Israel, tens of thousands of Jews in these communities remain there today. We work in close partnership with communities from Morocco to the Gulf in helping shape their Jewish future. By reinforcing the leaders of today and investing in the resources that will shape the leaders of tomorrow, we can ensure that Jewish life will never be extinguished in the Muslim world.

CARING FOR SURVIVORS

A significant portion of Survivors of the Holocaust living in Israel, due to their age and their dispositions, generally cannot brave their living conditions alone. As the cost of living continues to soar, Survivors with nothing more than basic pension and reparations remain living below the poverty line and continue to need things beyond the immediate resources of Israel’s social services. We provide them basics such as food, furniture, the company of volunteers, and financial assistance. Survivors of the Shoah deserve to retain their dignity by not being made to feel that they are a burden on society. We believe that this is a generation deserving of special care and should not be made to wait or plead for it.

REHABILITATING SOLDIERS

The Jewish Soldier is among the most virtuous of figures in Jewish History. Both Chayalim Bodedim and Haredim Bodedim have made tremendous personal sacrifices by joining the army and standing guard for our well-being. In some cases, the exposure to intensive training, combat, and tragedy can result in the amplifications of trauma, both old and new. We have created a special fund which will pay for the mental health care which is sometimes needed in post-army life, as these special designated former soldiers are not always in a position to return home and rely on their families and communities for help.

PROJECTS IN ISRAEL

HELPING OLIM

For a prosperous, Zionist future in Israel, the many immigrants who come to help the country grow, need to make their dream of Aliyah into a success story on the ground. Unfortunately, there are many instances where the challenges that present themselves become insurmountable problems. In cases where Olim cannot keep their heads above water, we provide debt relief, financial planning, and social welfare assistance in order to help them get a second a chance at Aliyah.
